Entry doors are designed to withstand various weather conditions, provide insulation, and enhance your home’s curb appeal.
Unlike other doors, entry doors are built with durability and security in mind, often featuring reinforced frames, multiple locking mechanisms, and weather resistant materials.
When it comes to entry doors, there’s no one size fits solution. Different materials and styles cater to various needs, preferences, and budgets.
Stylish and modern, pivot doors rotate on a central axis, creating a bold entrance.
They require precise installation and are ideal for contemporary homes.
Arched entry doors feature a curved top, offering a distinctive and elegant look that sets them apart from traditional rectangular doors.
They may include decorative woodwork, iron accents, or glass panels to enhance their luxurious appeal.
Featuring double doors with glass panels, French doors create a grand, light filled entrance while adding elegance and brightness to any space.
Timeless and elegant, wood doors offer rich finishes, excellent insulation, and customizable designs, bringing warmth and character to any space.
Investing in a high quality entry door offers numerous benefits for your home. Here are some key advantages:
Your entry door is a key focal point.
A well chosen door boosts curb appeal, making a great first impression on visitors and potential buyers if you ever decide to sell your home.
Modern doors feature multi point locks, reinforced frames, and impact resistant materials, enhancing security and giving you peace of mind while better protecting your home and family.
Many doors have insulating cores and weather stripping to reduce heat transfer, helping lower energy bills and keeping your home comfortable throughout the year.
A solid, well insulated entry door reduces outside noise, creating a quieter indoor space.
This is ideal if you live near busy streets or in noisy areas.
Energy efficiency is a crucial factor to consider when selecting an entry door. A well insulated door can significantly reduce your home’s energy consumption, leading to lower utility bills and a smaller carbon footprint.
Fiberglass and steel doors with foam cores insulate well, while solid wood offers moderate insulation.
Check the thermal resistance value to compare thermal resistance between materials.
Quality doors have tight sealing weather stripping to prevent air leaks and energy loss.
Choose durable, flexible stripping that withstands frequent use and temperature changes.
For doors with glass panels, choose impact glass with low-E coatings to reduce heat transfer and help maintain a stable indoor temperature year round.
Even the best door won’t insulate well if installed poorly.
Professional installation ensures a proper fit, intact seals, and maximum energy efficiency for your home.

Leo came right over and took care of it. Thanks so much!!!Posted on dan ronaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best in the business. So glad I hired them for my house. Thanks to the whole teamPosted on Niral MakadiaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had impact windows installed throughout our home by BigFoot Constructions, and we honestly couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the very beginning, Alex was great to work with. He came out right away for the initial visit, went room by room, and took his time making sure every measurement was accurate instead of rushing through it. About a week later, he sent over the estimate and walked us through all the different options – doors, glass types, and specs – making sure we really understood what we were choosing, even though everything was impact-rated. It never felt like a sales pitch, more like someone helping us make the right decision for our home. Once we placed the order, the whole team came back out – Alex, Brady, and Leo. They introduced themselves, re-measured every opening very precisely, and took the time to answer all of our questions. They also brought up things you don’t even think about until you’re in the middle of a project like this, like which way you want certain windows or doors to open, how that affects furniture placement, airflow, and everyday use. Their suggestions were logical and very practical, and they definitely improved the final layout. The windows themselves took several weeks to be manufactured, which we expected, and the city permits/inspections added a bit more time. Throughout that whole period, they kept in touch, so we never had to chase anyone down or guess what was happening next. Once everything was ready, Leo, the project manager, reached out to schedule installation – and he is truly amazing at what he does. He’s organized, detail-oriented, and kept us informed at every step so we always knew what was happening next. His installation crew came out for three days in a row, working 8–9 hours each day to handle our 18 openings. I’ve seen other companies rush through a job like this in a few hours; this team clearly focused on doing it right, not just doing it fast. They were extremely professional, respectful of our home, and their work was very clean. Leo didn’t just show up once and disappear. He constantly checked on the job, inspected every window, and made sure the details were perfect. Even without him standing over their shoulders, the crew’s work was impeccable, but Leo is very particular (in a good way) and made sure everything was 110% before calling it done. The cleanup was also outstanding: the crew picked everything up, swept, vacuumed, and cleaned up after themselves every day. If you left the house and came back after they were done, the only thing you’d notice is the new windows. We also had some decorative panel designs installed on our front door through one of their partner companies. I wasn’t happy with the initial caulking on the panels, so I texted Leo. He immediately contacted the supervisor, and they had someone out the very next morning to re-caulk the entire thing. Now it looks perfect. Leo doesn’t let anything slide and genuinely does everything to the best of his ability without us having to push for it. As for the windows themselves: yes, they’re impact-rated for hurricanes, which is the main reason we did this, but the everyday difference is huge. Compared to our older windows, the house is noticeably quieter, the temperature stays more stable, and you can tell everything is sealed up tight all the way around. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the work and with BigFoot Constructions as a company. They truly handled everything from start to finish – from dealing with the city, permits, to coordinating all three inspections (pre, in-process, and final), to the installation and thorough cleanup. For a project of this size with 18 openings, they made the whole process as smooth and stress-free as possible. You can tell their values are about doing things the right way the first time, not just making a quick sale and trying to fix things later. Everyone was professional, detail-oriented, and easy to work with. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering impact windows.Posted on Jiyon HanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent! Bigfoot sourced and installed seven exterior doors and a window in our home. They were very professional from the start to finish and follow-ups. Calls were always returned same day, many times immediately. They made several ‘site visits’ to understand the scope of our project to assure there be no suprises for either of us. Bigfoot provided clean and efficient installation. Their installation team of five did a great job. Clean, polite, and ‘walked us through’ the entire install before they began and before they left to assure we were satisfied. Top knotch company. We chose Walnut finish on the Mr Glass swing doors and very tall DWS sliding pocket doors. Our sliders open 24 feet and are so beautiful. Product and installation… We are very happy!
While it’s possible for skilled DIYers to install an entry door, professional installation is recommended. Proper installation is crucial for the door’s performance, security, and energy efficiency.
Yes, there are energy efficient glass options such as double paned glass with low-E coatings. These can significantly improve the door’s insulation properties.
In most cases, yes, but it may require significant modifications to the door frame. It’s best to consult a professional for this type of change.
Pre hung doors come already mounted in a frame, while slab doors are just the door itself. Pre hung doors are easier to install but more expensive, while slab doors are cheaper but require more skill to install properly.
Maintain your door by sealing and staining wood, cleaning and touching up fiberglass, and painting steel to prevent rust. Regular cleaning keeps all doors in top shape.
Choosing the perfect entry door for your home is a decision that requires careful consideration. It’s not just about picking a door that looks good; it’s about finding one that balances aesthetics, functionality, security, and energy efficiency to meet your specific needs.
