Those crews are good at what they do. But standing seam is a mechanically attached, thermally moving assembly, and the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) judges it under a different set of tests than anything else on a roof.

The confusion compounds because homeowners shop “metal roofing” as if it were one product, the way they shop a refrigerator. It is not a product. It is a category containing dozens of separately approved systems, each with its own uplift pressure rating, each legal only in the configuration it was tested in.
