Darryl Rosenbaum is a Florida International University graduate who founded Bigfoot Windows & Roofing with a singular focus: help South Florida homeowners understand and navigate roofing, impact windows, and impact doors with clarity and honesty. Today, he oversees all content on the Bigfoot website—including pricing guides, educational materials, service pages, and process timelines—and he remains involved in major projects and customer conversations.
His construction experience predates Bigfoot. Before starting the company, Darryl spent two years working on residential remodels, additions, and renovations in older Florida homes. This early work gave him hands-on exposure to how existing structures are built, where they fail under stress, and what it takes to tie new systems—windows, doors, roof systems—into old construction correctly.
Darryl founded Bigfoot in 2016. The company name honors his late father, Harvey Allen Rosenbaum, a decorated Army veteran of the Vietnam War who earned the callsign “Bigfoot” from his fellow soldiers.
During Bigfoot’s first five years, the scope was broader: roofing, impact windows, impact doors, additions, renovations, and structural modifications. Darryl worked alongside structural engineers, learned to read and implement engineer recommendations in field conditions, and developed a deep understanding of how different building systems interact.
Hurricane Irma in 2017 became a defining moment. Bigfoot handled many Irma-related repairs, which led Darryl into insurance claim work. He has served as an expert witness in insurance disputes, participating in formal depositions that covered repair scope, damage assessment methodology, and reconstruction cost analysis.
Darryl invests in continuing education and stays connected to manufacturers and industry organizations. He has attended workshops hosted by PGT, CGI, WinDoor, GAF, Owens Corning, Mr. Glass, Wedi, and Ardex. He participates in training organized by the National Glass Association (NGA) and the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA).
Around 2020, Darryl made a deliberate decision to narrow Bigfoot’s focus to roofing, impact windows, and impact doors. This narrowing didn’t erase his broader renovation and structural background—it informs how he evaluates projects, identifies potential complications, coordinates structural tie-ins, and helps homeowners understand what actually affects pricing and long-term performance.
Today, Darryl writes and oversees the educational content on the Bigfoot website. His goal is simple: give South Florida homeowners the information they need to make confident decisions about roofing, impact windows, and impact doors without pressure or confusion.
